My family and I recently took a road trip across our state to visit family. Even though we know the way we use a GPS app to track our progress, give us our estimated time of arrival, and alert us of any road hazards. Maybe you do this too.
Well, we were reminded how funny the English language can be. When approaching a road hazard our GPS with a beautiful English accent would say “Be careful, an ub-ject is in the road!”
Obviously, it meant object but the word is spelled the same way as ub-ject.
We all speak differently. Some us say route, some of us say root. They both mean the same thing.
Some people say Aunt, while others say ant. Depending upon your background can depend upon the words you use.
This is true in relationships too.
There are people who speak in languages of love, kindness, encouragement, and life.
There are others who speak in languages of spite, discouragement, hurt, and death.
As Christians, we must speak life. Jesus is the giver of life and if you have accepted him to be your Savior then you have new life in him.
It is also important to surround yourself with people who speak life too.
We have so much negativity in our world. We need people around us who will be honest with us yet loving. Those who will build us up and not tear us down.
I once had this youth pastor who would say “Show me your friends and I will show you your future.”
Who we allow to speak into our lives will influence who we become.
I am reminded of Hebrews 3:13
13 But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.
You are highly favored by the King most high! He values you and loves you as his own.
Don’t allow anyone to belittle, intimidate, or discourage you from who God says you are.
Guard your heart by allowing healthy influences to be the only ones you allow voice into your life.
Is there someone who has encouraged you to pursue your God-given dreams, and if so, how has that influenced who you are today.
